All work and no work
So... Cory still hasn't found a "career" job yet... and not for lack of trying as far as I can tell. His current job is temporary, but we don't know for how long.
He looks up careerbuilders and monster.com every day and applies to every job he may be qualified for. He has only had two calls for interviews since the beginning of May and they were both for pretty sketchy, shady jobs. He has applied to businesses in town who have advertised needing managers without getting any call backs. His cousin in pharmaceutical sales is on the lookout for him as are the two ladies he works for currently and his parrain. Now he is looking into going off shore which neither of us is very happy about.
I know you have to pay your dues, but we are not willing to move because of the Chesney situation. We are not willing to take an hourly job because we need benefits (specifically insurance for those of you who know my current woes.) And we are not willing to wait for the dream job to drop out of the sky... or maybe that's only me!
But seriously. What's a guy got to do to get an interview? We can't even think about turning down jobs until he starts getting calls. Anyway... I just wanted to let off some steam. Just pray for us.
Thanks.

It's a tough market. I would take any paying job to get started...money is money...benefits will come. It really is all in who you know.
I'll be in Phoenix for a while as both jobs (Denver and Dallas) fell through. I'm grateful to have a job, even if it's not the ideal job.

I'll keep an eye out for jobs too. Believe me, I know how frustrating it can be. It took me over a year to find the job I have now and "who I knew" really helped.
Good luck!

Kristy- I make enough now. I have gotten 2 raises in two years and I am due another one next summer that should put me close to 40K.
The reason we are struggling is because of the $650+ house note we have for an 850 sq ft house and the child support we have to pay. (Plus old credit card debt!)
I consider myself lucky to have the job I have and make the money I do in the area we live in because the market for what I do is very small.

He could get his teacher certification and then work at a school - coaching and teaching something. That sounds like him - I don't know how certification works in LA, but in FL, you just need a few extra courses to be certified to teach out of field. Teacher benefits (and hours) are pretty good.
