New houses
I know this is not Kristy's blog, but I found a really cute picture of the house she and Wayne are buying and I wanted to post it. Isn't it nice? Just the kind of home we'd want... nothing to fix.Cory and I are NOT fix-er-upper kind of people. I know that every house has repairs no matter how old it is, but we are just not handy. Luckily, we have people like our dads who are!
We also saw Kim and Nick's house on Sunday. They are fix-er-upper people! They have done an amazing job with their home in just 8 days. Repainted all the walls, ripped out all the carpeting, changed the fans, cleaned and repainted all the vents, and much more that wasn't immediately visible. They have a large backyard with a very large above ground pool and have plans for building a shed and possibly a pool house I think...
Congrats to all of you and your new houses!

I think I'm somewhere in between you and Kim. But I also have an extremely handy dad and my brother is an electrician. The trick is to get them to actually do the work (professional procrastinators).
I hope to buy a house within the next year too. Though it won't be as nice as Kristy's. With only one income, you can only afford so much. If you know of anyone who would be interested in merging incomes with me(as in marraige), I am currently taking applications (haha).

Sorry, Kristy. I didn't want to steal your thunder or anything and I hope I didn't jinx anything, but I was just so excited for you that I felt I couldn't keep it in much longer! I'll be living out my life through you in this new house!

Allow me to climb on top of my mountain and act as wise monk :) I've lived in a lot of places: apartments, condos (rented and owned) and houses(older than dirt and newer than new). All of these places were HOME because I made it that way. Paint goes a long way if you can't afford new. New is nice too (I have that now), but it's hard to see things get broken on it...scraped walls, dents, etc. It doesn't always stay new. I wish all of you ladies a HOME wherever you chose to land.
