Update

Hey! Since I stopped working, I don't really get on the computer anymore (shouldn't it be the opposite?!), so I have not been keeping up with my blog or others' blogs. Or email ;-)

So, it is Wednesday (4 days past my due date) and I am once again at home just waiting. Mom is coming over shortly to help me clean the kitchen since it is still something that needs to be cleaned. The rest of the house looks pretty decent. Cory cleaned for 4 days and got things up to speed then I have been going through boxes and cabinets and drawers since he went back to work. He started a new job at Enterprise rent-a-car two Mondays ago and it seems to be working out for him. (Fingers crossed.)

As for me and the baby...
I went in to the hospital last Thursday for softening. (I'll try not to be to technical or gross.) Anyway, after two tries, the procedure didn't work. I elected to go home on Friday and go in for an appointment on Monday. I went in for another appointment on Monday and my blood pressure was up again. 150/102. Dr. Hardey sent me back to the hospital for more observation. After 3 hours there, they determined that I still had +2 protein in my urine (a sign of pre-eclampsia or toxemia) but that my blood pressure was fine. It got down to 118/68. So, I was told that I do not have pre-eclampsia anymore, but I had to do a 24-hour urine analysis (which came back fine.)

Now, the next step is waiting until Friday and going back to the hospital for more baby monitoring and a bp check again. If everything is fine again and I still have not dilated or started having contractions, I will go back to the hospital again on Sunday night for another round of softening and I think Dr. Hardey will start an induction with Pitocin on Monday. If I don't dilate on my own or with the meds, he will have to do a C-section on Monday or Tuesday.

That's it for now. Later!

Pregnancy Update

I went in with Cory for my regular appointment yesterday. I gained 3 more pounds this week as I've been doing the past 6 weeks or so. And my blood pressure went from the "regular" 135/88 to 148/100. My doctor noted my increased swelling and high closed cervix and announced that I had mild pre-eclampsia. I was hooked to a fetal monitor to get an accurate reading of the baby's heartrate. Everything seems to be okay with baby. Thank God!

Anyway, the doctor now wants to see me Wednesday for an ultrasound to get measurements and stuff. I'll go in again next Monday as well. If things get worse, he will put me in the hospital and induce. If things stay the same, he will put me in the hospital on Thursday and give me something to try and ripen my cervix. He will try again on Friday. If I haven't progressed by Saturday, he will induce since that is my due date and he doesn't want me going past that date with high bp.

I figure that Wednesday or Thursday or this week will be my last day at work even though I was planning to go to work until contractions hit. It's for the best - even though I'm not ready.

I worry about going into the hospital early. I don't like the idea of being there for that long. I know enough about induction and pitocin to know that it is not the route I want to take. I want to AVOID a section if I possibly can. So many worries. And stress just makes it worse. I'm trying to leave it all in God's hands, but it may take some time for me to let it all go.

I think the best positive vibes you can send are relaxation vibes. Wish us luck!
