The Office

Does anyone watch "The Office" on NBC? I'm curious because I'm hooked. It uses very dry, sutle humor in a cubicle environment.

IMDb says: "A remake of the hit 2001 BBC TV series The Office (2001), this is a mockumentary that documents the exploits of a paper supply company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Made up of head chief Michael Scott, a harmlessly deluded and ignorantly insensitive boss who cares about the welfare of his employees while trying to put his own spin on company policy. With an office including the likes of various peers who have their own hangups, The Office takes a look at the lives of it's co-workers: bored but talented salesman Jim, his mildly sociopathic, butt kissing enemy Dwight, mildly righteous receptionist Pam, and indifferent temp Ryan."

Steve Carell (The 40 Year Old Virgin, Bruce Almighty) is the boss of the office and believes he is very funny and very bright. One of my favorite comments from him is: "I am both a night owl and an early riser... This means I am both wise and I have worms."

Painful weekend

Friday while sitting at my desk at work, I felt a small pull in my back - a little like a strained muscle. I stretched and pulled at it and it disappeared for a few hours. After work hours, it seemed to get a little worse. I pulled out the heating pad and Mom gave me an Icy Hot patch to use. It seemed to help.

By Saturday, I was in real pain. The cramp seemed to be between my right shoulder blade and my spine. Every deep breath that I took stole the wind from me. No sneezing, no yawning, no filling my lungs with air. Saturday night was no picnic. The pain worsened. I can't lie on my stomach because of the pregnancy and the pressure on my shoulder when lying on my side was too much. I got about 5 hours of sleep, but that just wasn't enough.

On Sunday morning, we called the OB on call to ask him what he recommended that I do. He told me to head to the ER. We got there at 9:30am and were realeased at 3:00pm! Not a fun day. I was hungry and so thirsty by the time we left. Anyway, the doctor said I was having muscle spasms and he ran a blood test to test for clots. The blood test came back negative, so he pulled out this long needle and proceeded to give me injections in the shoulder blade muscle that was spasming. It was LONG. About an hour after recieving the injection, I felt its affects.

Now I am on a low-dosage muscle relaxer and Tylenol for pain. It still feels tight when I move certain ways, but I feel very blessed that I can breathe normally now. Just wanted to update you.

Pics

OK. Lots of people have been asking for pictures, so I finally got around to downloading a lot of them off of my camera. Here are some pictures from our OKC trip. There are two of the OKC bombing memorial and one at the OKC zoo. I also have one of Chesney getting ready for her dance rehearsal. The revue was cute. As much as she loves dancing, we realized that she likes freestyle a lot more than choreographed moves! The last picture is of my pregant belly. There you go. I am 19 weeks today. One week away from halfway and knock on wood, no stretch marks yet!

Gender email

For those of you who read these blogs (minus Dad & Kim), I will be finding out the gender of our baby on Wed. June 28 in the morning. At 7pm (central) that night, Cory & I will be getting together with our parents and siblings to share the news and dinner. After dinner, I will send out an email letting everyone else know.

I know I will be bursting to tell everyone as soon as I know, but I want my parents and sibs to know first. I'm sure waiting a few more hours won't cause any of you any permanent damage!

Outside movement

Last night, while lying in bed, I had my hand on my belly and felt the first movement from the outside. I pushed down where I felt the movement and felt a push back. Cool!!! I called for Cory to come and feel, but it was too late by that time. He/she only pushes/kicks/stretches 2-3 times before settling down. Now I feel like I want to hold onto my belly all day long in hopes of catching it again!

Project

Parent watch day for Chesney was fun, yet boring at the same time. Chesney (as I think I've said before) is the youngest in her class, so she was the one who did the least. She put her face under water, floated on her back, and used a kickboard to "swim" half the width of the pool- kicking randomly. We were the most proud of her blowing bubbles in the water and putting her face under. I wish she would've learned how to hold her breath. She'll go under, but the water just pours out of her little nose when she resurfaces and you have to remind her to blow it out before she takes her first breath. Oh well. She is only three!

Here's where I am in the pregnancy: Week 18: Baby's limbs are lengthening, and at last, body length is catching up to head size. Bones are still malleable but are beginning to ossify. Your baby's digestive system is starting to produce meconium, its first fecal matter. Your baby has grown to 14 centimeters (5 ½ inches) crown to rump or about the size of a large pickle. Adding two ounces in just one week, your baby tips the scales at seven ounces.

I also decided to take on a project. I joined a forum for mothers due in November 2006 about twelve weeks ago. I get great feedback from them and try to give some out as well. Mothers-to-be write about anything from breastfeeding questions to nursery themes and belly pics to the death of a baby. Now they are trying to set up a Virtual Baby Shower. Basically, you get a Secert Pal who will give you a gift in the month of September. No one wanted to take on the responsiblity of keeping track of everything, so after a week and a half of waiting, I decided to volunteer for the job. If choosen, I will have to keep track of about 30-40 mothers' addresses, the sex of their babies, the theme for their nurseries, something they want, and things they definitely don't need. I then have to assign a pal to every mother and give them all the rules about when to send out gifts and how much to spend. It should be quite a job, but I think I can handle it. Wish me luck if I'm choosen!

I'm back.

Guess it's time for me to write again!

I have so much to talk about with my OKC trip, but I don't have the pics downloaded yet, so I guess I'll save that for another time...

Let's see... Chesney started swimming lessons this week. She is the youngest in her class of eight, but their teacher seems to be working with them at their own pace and she's having fun. Parent watch day is next Thursday, so I'll let you know how that goes...

The baby is 14 cm (5 1/2 inches) crown to rump, in theory. And weighs about 7 ounces. I feel movements every 2-3 days now and it is very exciting. I wish they came more frequently and stronger so that others could feel it, too. I know that'll happen soon enough and then I'll want it to stop because it'll keep me awake! We find out in about 3 weeks if it's a boy or a girl - if the baby decides to cooperate and I can't wait. I wanted a girl at first, but at this stage, I'm open to either one. I just want to start called the baby him or her instead or "it" and I want to narrow down our baby names to three instead of 33 and I want to begin thinking about the nursery (half of Chesney's room). If it's a girl, we'll leave the Disney princess stick-ons up and look into Disney princess crib sets. If it's a boy, half of the stickers will come down and we'll need to figure out what we want to go with... just not sports. I'll have to deal with that enough in the rest of his life (if he's his daddy's boy), so I want to start out with something jungle or bugs or even plaid. I don't know yet.

Happy Birthday to my godson Noah who turns 8 tomorrow. It's amazing to see him change so drastically when you only get to see him once (maybe twice) a year. When I was little, I hated how "older" people said, "I can remember you when you were this big!" Now, I feel the urge to say it! The day that I found out my "aunt" was pregnant, I certainly didn't think it was Nan! Although it is fuzzy trying to remember what Noah looked like in the hospital, I remember being there and holding him. I was in shock and so honored when I was asked to be his godmother by my godparents. It's something very special that they gave to me and I hold it in my heart always. Now with my own baby on the way, choosing the godparents is a hard process. With so many friends and family, we want everyone to feel as special as we did being godparents. Sometimes when I watch "A Baby Story" and the parents are having triplets or quads, I think that they are lucky to be able to ask so many people to play that role at the same time. Also, the naming decision has got to be easier... but those two reasons are about the only reasons I feel that they are lucky. 3 babies. Whoa. 4 babies. Yikes!
